1. What you thought would happen last week/this week?
I thought I would have been freezing in the cold. The weather in Vietnam is normally milder than the weather in Wisconsin. Coming from a country where the temperature is around 60 degrees Fahrenheit, a below-zero temperature climate has been a real shock for me. All of my clothing from Vietnam were not warm enough. The first day when I walked to school, I thought I would be frozen. I also thought that I would got lost in translation with being in the school where almost everybody is a native speaker of the language.
2. What actually happened last week/this week?
My husband took me to get a huge coat. I also got a new pair of snow boots, and some sweaters. It has also been warmer in the last several days, and I could be able to enjoy the sun this past weekend. I have also felt very warm and welcoming from my professors, my peer guides and my classmates. They have tried to spoken slower, and allowed me to have time to construct my sentence. I have felt much more comfortable now with the weather and the classes than when I first came.
3. What do you think will happen next week?
I think I will have much more homeworks from all of my ESL classes. I know the program is the intensive ESL program so it will get harder and will require more work and effort. I also want to participate in some extracurriculum activities. Not only that will improve my English, but the activities will help me to have more friends and connections here in Eau Claire.
